The Way Volleyball

Should Be

207 Volleyball Club

Why 207 VBC

207 VBC was created as the shared vision of Dave Carson and Ian Blanchard. Dave and Ian’s friendship extends back over three decades. (see About page).

Both men have extensive experience coaching and working with student athletes. As Dave and Ian began discussing junior level girls’ volleyball in southern Maine, they felt they could offer athletes and their families a better overall experience than what other clubs provide.

How do we improve the experience?

I. Provide better training through the use of research based methods and bio-mechanics. We want our athletes to not only learn the best ways of playing volleyball, but also put them in a learning environment that helps accelerate the rate at which they can learn. Using scientifically proven motor learning laws, bio-mechanics and appropriate playing environments, our athletes will improve faster. They will understand and play the game better!

II. Provide a better athlete and family experience. One of the most important goals of the club is provide the best possible experience for our members. This starts with outstanding communication. We understand the importance of keeping parents updated and providing honest, transparent updates. We are parents! We understand the frustration of miscommunication and lack of transparency. It is our mission to provide the best possible family experience for our members

III. Creating a culture of inspired competitiveness. Volleyball is competitive. We understand that everyone wants to win, including us! Paramount to winning though is athlete improvement and success on and off the court. We want to inspire our athletes to play with passion and composure. We want to prepare them for all of life’s challenges. Volleyball can be an outstanding metaphor for the types of challenges they will encounter in their lives as they grow into adulthood. No one is just a number at 207 Volleyball.

IV. Provide more services to our members. Ian Blanchard has over 30 years of experience coaching club, high school, NJCAA, NCAA DI and NCAA DIII. Dave Carson has coached club (UNH Men’s VB — 2 National championships) for over 20+ years and has extensive experience as a national level USAV and NCAA DI/II/III official. He has officiated some of the biggest matches in the country both indoors and beach. Dave has officiated on the AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals) for 23+ years and also officiates the NVA (National Volleyball Association) which is the current USA men’s professional indoor league. Both coaches have built an outstanding network of collegiate coaches across the country. They understand what collegiate coaches are looking for when recruiting potential athletes. Additionally, we will assist with officiating training, provide mentorship, and several other services.

For those families looking for private lessons those will also be available (additional costs) through the club. Our coaching philosophy is found here.
